PA Investigations-Dwayne Pintoff

October 2009

Here are a couple more photos of the foot print that I found. I'm also including some tree stackings and a primitive canopy that Dave and I came across on our last outing.

If you remember, this is not far from where the man and his wife saw a creature on the side of the interstate from a recent report! The other photos show 3 twisted/bent pine trees we found in the grassy meadow at the end of the trail adjacent to the gas pipeline. All three trees were bent/twisted in the same direction. All we could say about the things seen in the photos, was that it was unusual! This meadow was located at the end of the trail where Dave and I set up to do our last night outing...the same place where we had the 15 to 20 pound object thrown behind us!

I plan on returning to the woods again this coming weekend! If I happen to find new evidence, I'll be glad to share it with you if you'd like!
My only interest is to find the evidence to prove once and for all that these creatures do exist!
Any information/support that I can obtain to assist me with my research efforts is greatly appreciated!

Esteban Sarmiento on Sasquatch

Primatologist: If Bigfoot exists, it's not an ape

By Mike Leggett
AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Sunday, October 04, 2009

TYLER — If Bigfoot exists in North America, the mythical beast is no mere ancient representative of an ape family that migrated across the Bering land mass with mastodons and ancient man, a primatologist says.

Bigfoot — or Sasquatch or Skunk Ape or Fouke Monster or whatever name you prefer — would have to be a completely new and specific species, Esteban Sarmiento told attendees at the ninth annual Texas Bigfoot Conference on Sept. 26. "If it's real, this animal is exceedingly human-like," Sarmiento said. "It would be our closest relative on earth."

Sarmiento, though, wouldn't exactly address the question of whether Bigfoot exists or whether he believes the tales about wild, hairy beasts that have drifted out of dark, wooded river bottoms and foggy rain forests for decades. What Sarmiento did say, though, is that, based on his studies of great apes in Africa, Sumatra and Borneo, whatever Bigfoot is, he's not an ape.

Sarmiento spoke during the conference about the so-called Patterson-Gimlin film shot in 1967. A touchstone in Bigfoot lore and the believers' burning bush, the film purports to show a female Bigfoot with pendulous breasts, striding across a rocky area in northern California.

The film has been debated by believers, denounced and debunked by critics, shown on television and dissected and disseminated on YouTube.

Roger Patterson was a would-be filmmaker who had been trying to get funding for a movie about Bigfoot. In early 1967, he rented a quality 16mm camera and convinced Robert Gimlin to travel with him into the wilderness to look for the creature . Amazingly, they found a hairy specimen walking away from them and into heavy timber in the distance. The creature shown in the film is covered in dark hair and walks with a human gait, even turning its head to look back at the camera before it disappears.

Gimlin, who's still alive and attended the conference, swears the film is real. Patterson maintained its authenticity until his death, which happened in 1972. However, a man named Bob Heironimus has claimed he was paid $1,000 to don the suit and walk in front of the camera and out of sight.

Bigfoot and Sasquatch sightings have been common in the Pacific Northwest for decades. They've also been prevalent in East Texas and the surrounding big timber regions of Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

Believers think the common traits of a 7- to 9-foot tall, hairy, wild-eyed but super intelligent beast that normally avoids humans but often is spotted walking along roadways or standing close to remote cabins are related to the same species.

Bigfoot is rare enough, they say, that he must move around to find mates and new territory, and that's why reports have filtered in for at least 150 years.

There have been some obscure and out-of-focus photos taken over the years, and there have been Bigfoot hoaxes and claims of capture and kills, even by respected members of the Bigfoot community. But no one ever has managed a quality photo that comes even close to Patterson's film.

Bigfoot believers — the serious ones are called researchers to separate themselves from simple believers who seem to have devout faith as well in Atlantis, UFOs, chupacabras and aliens among us — have claimed the film shows a possible descendant of Gigantopithecus blacki, a great ape that migrated across the land bridge to live in North America. Sarmiento isn't buying that.

"A great ape (chimp, gorilla or orangutuan) can't do this. I guarantee there's no great ape that can do this," Sarmiento says, pointing to the frame in the film when the creature turns in full stride to look over its shoulder at the camera. "A gorilla couldn't do this. It can't turn it's head. An ape would have to stop and turn around to look at the camera." Apes can walk on two legs, he said, but not with the stride and gait the Patterson Bigfoot uses. That's a human trait.

"And the breast is covered in hair. Gorillas don't have hair on their breasts. Apes only have breasts if they're nursing, but there's no baby in the film," Sarmiento said. "Females usually have a baby around, and I don't think it would leave and not take the baby." Sarmiento added that the bottom of the Bigfoot's foot in the film isn't an ape's foot with an opposable toe and even noted that it looks somewhat like a padded house shoe.

So what is it? What does the film show? "If I can't show it either way, why would I make the call," Saremiento said. "If it's real it has to be a whole new species. Is it a man in a monkey suit? I don't know. If I said that and it turned out not to be, then I'd look stupid."

Ohio EOBIC Meeting Oct, 2, 2009

I was asked by Don Keating to give a presentation about my travels at his meeting at Salt Fork State park last night. I was a bit nervous, but then just did what I do best, talk.

Don discussed his new weather program and possible guests for his 2010 conference.

There has been no new activity reported in Ohio, and when we went out squatching after the meeting, all we caught was a cold.

here are some pics from the meeting! Enjoy!

Logo Needed

I would like to have a logo created for The Bigfoot Field Reporter.

If you are talented and creative, I would like to see your work!

I would like to incorporate a road map of the United States, a bigfoot character, a really nice design for the words The Bigfoot Field reporter. Maybe a cartoon image of me; audio and visual equipment...you know to embody what it is I actually do..

The person creating the logo chosen for The Bigfoot Field Reporter will receive $50 cash.

I know it isn't much, but I run this show on my own dime!

Spread the word!

What type of beast clawed S. Jersey horse?

By Peter Mucha
Inquirer Staff Writer
New Jersey wildlife officials hope to determine what kind of animal severely wounded a South Jersey horse on Friday night. "We're investigating whether the injuries were caused by a domestic animal or a wild one," said Darlene Yuhas, spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection.
Something jumped on the back of a large white thoroughbred at the DD Ranch on Watsontown-New Freedom Road in Winslow, said Capt. Michael Bartuccio of township police.
Its underside was ripped open "from armpit to armpit" and its back was covered with gashes, he said.
"I know it sounds gross, but I could actually see his lungs going back and forth," Bartuccio said.
"It's incredible he's still alive."
With no witnesses who can talk, police aren't sure if the predator was some kind of dog, bear or cat.
Across the road from the ranch is a large privately owned tract of woods and swamp, Bartuccio said.
No large wild felines are known to prowl the area, though, and no similar attacks on area livestock have happened in recent years, he said.
Tales of cougars being sighted around South Jersey have been mentioned to Winslow police, but Yuhas downplayed that as a possibility.
"We do get a handful of reports about cougars from year to year but none of them have ever been verified," she said.
Investigators have already been to the ranch and another expert was expected to visit today, she said.
Since vets removed flaps of skin and cleaned the wounds, the horse's healing has been remarkable, Bartuccio said.
"This horse is an incredible horse and calm as could be," he said.
A horse owner himself, the captain estimated the wounded animal to be about 13 to 16 years old.
Sounds like South Jersey should also remain calm.
Even if a Philadelphia TV station wondered in a headline:
"Is the Jersey Devil on the attack?"

TBRC 2009 Conference Recap

I arrived at Tyler airport on Friday. I then went to the Tyler Sleep Inn to check into my hotel room. The lobby was empty except for one lone person sitting at the computer. Esteban Sarmiento. I went up to Esteban and introduced myself and we chatted for a bit. He is sweet and shy. He is intimidated by my likeness to an aggressive female primate. (joke)

After I got my stuff settled into my room, I came back down to the lobby and met up with Craig Woolheater. He asked me if I wanted to help him run errands. This was a working vacation for sure!

We retrieved Loren Coleman from the airport, dropped him off at the hotel, then proceeded to run errands buying consumable treats for the meet and greet to be held later that evening.

When we got back to the hotel, the lobby was filled with about 40 people! They all helped unload the truck, while I went to my room to freshen up for dinner.

We all piled into several cars and head out to Rudys for some Texas barbecue.

The dinner at Rudys was a lot of fun..like one bigfoot family reunion. Sitting with all the notables and chowing down. Peter Matthiessen, Bob Gimlin, John Bindernagle, Loren Coleman, Esteban Sarmiento, John Mionczynski...incredible.

We then headed back to the hotel for the meet and greet and I set up for my live radio show. The atmosphere was festive and we had a great time! Have a listen!

Live Broadcast of TBRC 2009 Conference Meet and Greet

New report from PA Bigfoot Society

Credit: Stan Gordon.

Thursday September 24, 2009 Approximately 5:00 pm Fayette County, near the village of Dunbar PA.

A woman and her daughter were driving on a rural back road. They were out for an evening drive in the mountain (Chestnut Ridge). They drove up the road and stopped and looked up and down a gas well line that crosses the road. They did not see anything. Upon driving back down the road, they again stopped. When they did they looked to the left and hear loud brush breaking. They were fully expecting to see a bear or deer. Instead the woman described that she and her daughter saw a large human like figure, tall, bulky like a football player with muscular arms and broad shoulders come quickly out of the left side of the woods, cross the gas well road and enter the woods on the other side. The creature moved very quickly and disappeared from sight. She stated the creature was covered in head to toe with very dark brown hair and its arms hung down at its side as it quickly crossed the trail. She did not see its face. She states they were only 100 feet from the creature.

I am meeting the witness and her daughter this morning at 8:30 to take me to the sighting location. If any evidence is found, I will be sure to contact those interested in going to check out the location further.

TBRC 2009 Conference Recap

I arrived at the Tyler airport on Friday, then proceeded to the Tyler Sleep Inn to check in to my room. Upon arrival I was greeted by Craig Woolheater. I turned around to see Esteban Sarmiento sitting at the computer and I went over to introduce myself to him.
He is a very nice man, a little shy. I know I scare him, must be my resemblance to a aggressive female primate, lol.

After I get settled, I got put to work! We picked up Loren Coleman from the airport, then Craig and I headed out to purchase treats for the meet and greet. When returned there were about 40 conference speakers and attendees in the lobby. They helped unload the truck and I went to my room to freshen up for the dinner at Rudys.

The dinner was so cool, it was like one big family sitting down, laughing, talking, eating, making new friends.

We then headed back to the hotel for the meet and greet where I set up for my radio show. The atmosphere was so festive and the radio show started off great! lol.
Have a listen...

A Living Legend

Many of us became interested in the bigfoot phenomenon by watching the Legend of Boggy Creek in our younger years. Some of us held onto that fascination into our adulthood. Some of us got busy with life, work family etc. and didn't think about it until we reached our 40's. Perhaps we needed more from life as we began to realize that we won't live forever. Perhaps our interest was rekindled because we wanted more from life. We want to be pioneers, adventurers, researchers.

In our bigfoot world, one true legend remains. Bob Gimlin.

Every single person who has met Bob has come away from the experience in awe of his kindness and love of life.

Bob has a love for life that I have never seen in my life until now. He gives me hope and faith in mankind.

He will answer all your questions, looking you straight in the eye, remembering your name and thanking you for becoming a part of his life.

I met Bob in Oregon last month, and when we met again this past weekend, he came right up to me, hugged me and told me how happy he was to see me again. I know he does this with everyone he meets, but I just get a thrill knowing that this legend, this pioneer, this "rock star" of our bigfoot world is glad to have met me!

I hope you all get the chance to meet him one day, and come away with the same feeling.

The Yowie Witness Interview on The Bigfoot Field Reporter Radio Show

On Friday the 25th of September, I will be reporting live from the Texas Conference and this show will air at 10:30 p.m. EST. Sure to be a good time!

Good Afternoon!

This new shift is kicking my butt! It seems that there has been no bigfoot activity to report!

Eric Altman was out on a recent witness investigation, but the rest of the story is top secret.

Don Keating tells me that he is going to be on national tv in November, but the rest of that story is top secret too!

Too many secrets in this biz!

Well we are only 4 days away from the BIGGEST Conference of the year!

The 2009 TBRC Conference in Tyler Texas. This thing has been promoted to death, so if anyone doesn't know about it by now, then they have not been paying attention.

I hope you all get out squatching before the cold cold weather sets in. Let's find those monkeys! :)

Bob Gimlin as Special Guest at 2009 Texas Bigfoot Conference

Special Announcement

The TBRC is delighted to announce the guest appearance at the 2009 Texas Bigfoot Conference of a legendary and distinguished figure: Bob Gimlin of Yakima,WA.

In 1967 Mr. Gimlin and his field partner, Roger Patterson, filmed what may have been a female sasquatch walking along Bluff Creek, located in the Six Rivers National Forest of Northern California. The unprecedented film has been the subject of much controversy as well as intense worldwide scrutiny for more than forty years. Despite having its authenticity challenged repeatedly, no one has been able to cogently demonstrate that the film is illegitimate.

Do not miss out on this singularly rare opportunity to meet this historically significant and extraordinary gentleman.

Here is my picture with Bob Gimlin taken last month Beachfoot 2009.

Possible Footprint Found

Our friend Cliff Barackman of Portland, Oregon has been contacted to investigate a possible print.

The photo of the print was taken on Sept. 9 on private property. This area also had a curious rock throwing incident last year!

Good luck Cliff!

Weekend Re-cap

It is fashionable to Squatch after Labor Day!

My friends from the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society were out this past weekend and had some exciting activity!

With the Kentucky "Bigfoot" image and the activity in Pennsylvania, I'd say things are heating up here in the eastern United States!

Attached is a brief run down of what the guys encountered while squatching this past weekend:

Hi Sharon,
Well you missed the best night we've had in the woods at *****! Dave and I definitely had activity! We arrived around 2pm and did quite a bit of hiking to check out other locations for future night investigations! During our day investigating we came across one area that had an abundance of tree stackings and even what I must say looked like a possible shelter...the intertwined trees were definitely not natural, but to say a creature did it...well! We also hiked down the trail perpendicular to ****. At the end of the trail is an open meadow with a scattering of pine trees! Dave and I found the tops of 3 of the 6ft saplings bent/twisted...definitely looked out of place!

We decided to relocate down this trail for our night investigation. The conditions were perfect....full moon, no wind, and around 60 degs! Shortly after darkness set in, the activity started. Dave and I both heard a distinct double tree knock deep in the woods across from where we were sitting. Within a couple of minutes another distant single tree knock directly to our side, then the rock throwing started. Of course we took into account that the acorns are full size and now make a louder thump when they hit the ground, but these rocks were much louder and we could hear them coming through the tree tops like we heard when you were there. I'd say that roughly a dozen or more rocks were thrown from 4 directions during the 5 hours we were in the woods, with the last one sounding like it could have been as large as a 15 lb bowling ball! I'm not exaggerating! In fact it startled poor Dave so bad, who had his back to the sound, that he literally leaped out the chair and went into a commando stance....because he told me that he thought it was something heavy running toward us. Since I happened to already be standing and facing this direction, I didn't jump but I did feel a tingle go up my spine! The thud this rock made was extremely loud. It landed within 20ft behind us and both Dave and I thought it must have been thrown by something standing close to us, since we never heard any leaves or limbs being hit....but we never saw any movement or heard anything walking in the woods afterwards. About an hour before that large stone was thrown we did both hear what sounded like something breaking or stepping on a large tree limb from our right side, creating a loud snapping noise! I'd safely guess we heard a minimum of two dozen single or double tree knocks and also heard what sounded like two short, muffled, gutteral grunts or barks....sort of a gruuur noise! All I can say is that the activity kept Dave and me alert! Unfortunately we didn't see any shadows or movement, or hear any distinct vocalizations. So overall it was an exciting night!

I love hearing about the night activity! Also, pictures of the evidence found during the day would be nice to see too!

Great job guys and keep up the good work!

Backyard Bigfoot?

CNN video of the Kentucky Bigfoot game camera photo posted earlier today at: Bigfoot Caught on Game Camera in Kentucky?

What do you think? Is it Bigfoot?

Bigfoot Caught on Game Camera in Kentucky?

Some wonder if mysterious image in picture is BigFoot

FAIRDALE, KY (WAVE) - Conspiracy theorists have tried to prove the possibility of aliens, sea monsters, and even shape shifters, now there is a mystery in Jefferson County. Kenny Mahoney, born and raised in Fairdale, snapped a picture of what some people are calling BigFoot.

Kenny Mahoney

His hunting camera, which is operated by a motion detector, normally picks up rabbits, deer and turkeys, but on September 1 around 2:15 p.m. it picked up a strange image that looks like some sort of large black creature, one Mahoney estimates taller than he.

"It looked like it had the outline of a head, and like gorilla type shoulders, and then the arms crossed is what it looks like to me," said Mahoney.

Mahoney said it would be very hard for him to believe Big Foot is living in his backyard, but is stumped as to what else it could be.

"One of the explanations my brother-in-law said it may be a garbage bag blowed up in there, but all the smashed over vegetation in there-I really don't know," said Mahoney. "I have no idea what it is."

Mahoney's wife Margaret sent the photo to a wildlife expert who specializes in black bears. She said it looks like it is fur and not a trash bag, but still cannot confirm it is a bear.

Chupacabra Caught?

Ok, this is not my area of interest, but I figured I'd post something to fill the void between Bigfoot News!

Chupacabra Caught

West Coast Researchers

Part of my vision as the Bigfoot Field Reporter is to share information from coast to coast with researchers who might not otherwise ever hear from each other.

Bart Cutino is from Monterey California and spends a lot of time in the woods squatching with his best friend Bobo. Talk about a researcher's dream team, Bart's California crew often squatches with the likes of Matt Moneymaker, Cliff Barackman, Ranger Robert Leiterman, Tom Yamarone, Wally Hersom, Brandon Kiel & WA guys Derek Randles, Jamie Jackson & Paul Graves! What a line up!

Bart recently even had a squatching bachelor party!

Bart is a member of the Bigfoot Discovery Museum;the BFRO and the AIBR.

Now Bart isn't just another pretty face. He has put together some of his thoughts and beliefs about bigfoots on youtube for the Bigfoot Discovery Museum and has graciously allowed me to share them with you here.

Now without any further ado.....here's Bart!

It's pretty cold out there!

It is September 1st, and as I reflect on the events since Memorial day til now, I am disappointed in the amount of successful bigfoot encounters.

I've been to Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Ohio, California, Texas and Oregon since May 22, 2009.

I've seen armadillos, a black bear, some bald eagles, lots of kamikazee squirrels, but no bigfoot.

I did cast some tracks with Bob in Ohio. Got rocks thrown at me in Pennsylvania. Saw red eye shine in Oklahoma. Still no conclusive proof for myself that the big guy exists.

I envy those who have seen one; those who can go to their graves knowing without a doubt that these creatures exist.

I have met so many wonderful people this past summer and hope to meet many more! I've come across some very nasty people too...this business can get pretty ugly.

So even though the weather is going to change, please keep up with your great research and keep me informed of any exciting findings! Heck even the not-so-exciting findings will do.

Happy September everybody!

Polish Yeti, Again?

Well it seems that there is a lot of recent Yeti activity in Poland, or somebody has found out how much we like hoaxes. Regardless, here is another encounter in Poland's Tatra Mountains, this time involving a babe in a bikini...go figure...

Polish Yeti-The Bikini Scene

Sasquatch Envy

I am not sure who the author is on this, but if they come forward I will glady attach their name and give them proper credit! :)

Sasquatch Envy in BFery refers to the theorized reaction of a researcher, either during or immediately following the rigours of field work, to the realization that the sum total of their effort to date has produced neither a living nor dead Sasquatch specimen, nor a better than average blobsquatch-quality BF image captured on film (either still or moving), nor an identifiable audio file, as proof of BF existence that would be acceptable to their peers, fellow researchers or the general public.

One may consider this realization a defining moment in the stunting of their personal research development, leading to a deep seated sense of inadequacy, frustration, lack of self worth and anxiety disorder over their subsequent failure to be recognized, either by their peers or by the general public following their work, as a bona fide and successful, self-actuated, Sasquatch researcher. For individuals who have arrived at this critical juncture the risk of becoming unhinged or unbalanced is palpable. It is the norm in BFery.

In contemporary culture, the term Sasquatch Envy is sometimes used symbolically or metaphorically to refer to the idea that researchers wish they had a Sasquatch, or to refer to anxieties between researchers about the veracity of their respective research claims, which could accusatorily be said to account for their failure to produce adequate proof of Sasquatch existence. Non-researchers do not generally suffer from Sasquatch Envy.

However, according to popular culture, the parallel reaction in non-researching, casual, BF observers or aficionados, to the realization that no one to date has produced a satisfactory proof of Sasquatch existence, is referenced as the equally ubiquitous Sasquatch Denial Complex which has in recent times moved beyond mere Snopesian urban legend into staunch pan-cultural reality.

Today’s BF culture is rife with both Sasquatch Envy and Sasquatch Denial. Indeed, these are desperate times.

Sufferers of both Sasquatch Envy and Sasquatch Denial tend to clash violently when confronting one other over the veracity of their respective claims. On occasion, during especially heated exchanges over intellectual turf, their horns may irreparably lock, resulting in their mutual and sometimes permanent retirement from the forum. Their ossified remains can often be discovered in long abandoned forum back threads.

In BFery Envy Theory, the Casting Stage (occurring approximately between the first and third years of participation) is the first period of active development in which the monomaniacal fetish-focus is primarily on the foot area, with an emphasis on acquiring the largest possible plaster casting sample, since, in this case, size does matter.

Prior to this stage, the passive Armchair Squatcher Phase (broadly defined by a motivating interest in discovering anything and everything that can be presently learned about BF through available media) functions as the primary energy force within the mind which may or may not be powerful enough to promote mobilization of the individual into an active in-the-field research role. Not everyone is cut out to be cut out.

Failure to move from the early passive stage into the all-encompassing active stage within the first three years could result in BF Stultification, an often fatal condition by which the intellect and common sensibility gradually degenerate into clinical depression and BF Morbidity. Currently many forum participants may be unaware that they are suffering these debilitating conditions.

In order to avoid the pangs of stultification and morbidity it is almost always recommended that the interested party find a way to graduate to the contentious field of active field research where one can look forward to dubious but pivotal events such as purported scat or hair collection, den discovery, stick formation photography or perhaps the most contentious development of all, an actual sighting, the ultimate catalyst in the development of a life-long Sasquatch Delusional Disorder.

While there is no cure for any of these degenerative conditions at the present time, there is, nonetheless, hope that, while fashionable for the past few number of decades, the entire subject and apparatus of applied BFery may gradually slip away into oblivion as the concept of Sasquatch Envy is less and less regarded as a serious psychopathology by most psychoanalysts.

Signs to Watch For: Have You Been Infected?

Have you noticed that your research efforts have resulted in significantly different outcomes than those claimed by other participants because of differences in research approaches?

Have you wondered whether perhaps you are, after all, not mentally or physically equipped to have a research relationship with a Bigfoot or a Sasquatch?

Do you see the solution to either your Sasquatch Envy or Sasquatch Denial as hinging upon your own or another’s approval?

For Your Own Piece of Mind

In order of importance to you, rank the following BF research motivations:
a) desire for public recognition
desire for power
c) desire for pecuniary reward
d) desire for scientific status
e) desire for popular prestige
f) desire to be healed

If you chose (f), then you’re already (f)’d. Remember, where ever you go, there you are.

BFery is a Cutthroat World

In the world of BFery researchers often view each other as competitors whereby the research desires of one researcher often lead to the desire to replace and eliminate those of another researcher. Ascendancy is the name of the game. Or, one researcher often initially identifies with another so that they might learn to mimic the other, and thus similarly hope to replace them. If one researcher can succeed in displacing another researcher by stealth or cunning or clever ploys, especially in the popular media, then so much the better. These are learned competitive BFery techniques which all active research participants must strive to master. Wrangling on the discussion forums is a passive, but necessary, introductory technique designed to introduce the active researcher to Winning BF Strategies. Now it’s time to go all the way!

Ohio Expedition

As promised, I am posting information about the research that my partner Bob was conducting at Salt Fork State Park while I was out cavorting on the west coast.

The significance of the clucking noise mentioned is that myself and Don Keating have both heard and recorded this clucking noise and it seemed to have been a signal indicating the presence or absence of humans in the area. I'm just speculating, but that is the conclusion that I have come to. Any thoughts or ideas?

Bob's report:

Friday night August 21st at Salt Fork State Park, we all sat in our chairs on a horseshoe shaped ridge that funnels down to a bowl shaped depression. The depression is full of a lot of downed trees and scrub brush. The outer edges of the top of the ridge are surrounded by forest. Almost everyone had night vision equipment and I was the only one with a parabolic mic.

The sky was clear and the stars were really out. It was a moonless night. I saw one real nice shooting star and others in the group saw quite a few.

Jason and Dave hiked down a ways into the depression in front of our position. We had heard some Bared Owl calls and Jason then did some whoops. The first Owl call I heard didn't sound right to me. Instead of a tapered off sound at the end of the call it stopped abruptly. For a while there while they were down in the depression Jason and Dave were doing some whoop calls and we were hearing different answers back. At times it also sounded like two different animals were calling to each other at different positions. At one point Jason got a whoop response back to one of his whoops.

After a while of enjoying sitting there and hearing the different calls coming from different directions Jason and Dave came back up to our sitting position. I had been scanning around with my night vision but didn't see anything interesting. At almost the same time Jason and Rick said they caught some movement through their NV off to our right flank from in the tree line. They continued to scan the area but caught no more movement. I was listening to the area of the movement with my parabolic mic. I heard a clicking noise come from the area. Jason was closest to the noise/movement area and I asked him if he had heard it. He said no. Immediately after that I heard the same clicking sound. I asked the others if any of them had heard it but no one did.

The clicking sound I heard sounded like a noise you make with your tongue bent back on the roof of your mouth then popping it forward while opening your mouth. Each time I heard it there where about 5 or 6 clicks in a row. The sound was very distinct through the parabolic mic. I can't say how far away the sound came from but the max distance the mic is supposed to be good for is 300 feet. No one else picked up this noise without a parabolic mic.

After a while of no action on the ridge we drove over to an area where Don Keating and Scott A where researching. They were basically hanging out at a picnic area using listening devices. Don started talking about a clicking noise that he had recorded in the past year from nearby. He still had the original sound file in the recorder and he played it back for us. I was astonished because it was the same exact clicking sound that I had just heard back up on the ridge. On Don's recording you can hear something that sounds like a bipedal gate walk up to the mic and start messing with it then you hear a series of about 5 or 6 clicking noises. I have also heard this same clicking sound from a recording Sharon has picked up.

For me this was very interesting. I wonder if anyone else out there in Squatchland has heard anything like this?

The "Ridge"

Bob also adds:
One thing that is important I want to add about my clicking sound report is that Don Keating had a biologist that specializes in primate behaviour listen to the sounds and he said that it sounds like the clicking sounds that are made by some primates for communication. There is a segment on this in Don's recent documentary "Sasquatch At Salt Fork".

And more!

On Saturday, the day began at 10 a.m. with presentations from Tom Steenberg and the drawing for door prizes. My name was drawn and I won the book, Where Bigfoot Walks Crossing the Dark Divide, by Robert Michael Pyle. Luckily for me he was also in attendance and offered to sign the book for me. Almost everyone was a winner! There were Bigfoot books, Bigfoot wine made by Ron Morehead, plaster casts and many other donations that were offered as door prizes.

The group broke for lunch and reconvened at 2 p.m.. We sat down to a presentation by "John" who is a criminal investigator. This presentation was so enjoyable and informative! He spoke for a little over an hour and he could have easily gone on for another!

Todd then gave out more door prizes. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. The sun was warming us everytime the wind would let up and give it a chance.

I walked over to Robert Michael Pyle to have him sign my book, and this took over an hour as Bob Gimlin was regaling us with stories about the day he and Roger Patterson stumbled upon Patty.

I asked questions and he answered them forthright and with much detail. Honestly, if anyone thinks this man is lying about what he saw, they need to sit down and talk to him and ask questions.

The conversation was in depth and open. I learned about the night of October 20th, 1967. Bob and Roger had to gather up Roger's horse and head back to their camp to retrieve the casting materials, they went back to Al Hodgsen's store and Bob picked up some empty cardboard boxes to carry them back. The casts were poured but they had to wait hours. Around 4 a.m. it began to rain and Bob put the boxes over the casts so they wouldn't get ruined. It began to pour and the low road out of Bluff Creek was being washed away. The truck with the horse trailer was a front wheel drive and they had a heck of a time getting over Onion Mountain...so many little details that none of us had ever known, unless of course you had talked with Bob and asked the questions.

The conversation soon turned to butterflies and tattoos and we laughed and joked like nobody's business.

I walked away to mingle and Robert finally signed my book.

We then posed for a group picture to memorialize the event. We had to get about 50 people in the picture and that was no easy feat!

We then were told to meet at 5 p.m. to sing Happy Birthday to Peter Byrne. It was a surprise birthday party for him! Donations were made in lieu of gifts for Peter's project in Nepal. I will add a link so you can donate as well! :)

International Wildlife Conservation Society

Yvonne and Todd then began the preperations for the cook out and again everyone was eating and mingling.

That evening, Robert M. Pyle read his stories to us with his engaging style as the campfire roared. Ron Morehead then gave the Sierra Sounds presentation in place of the absent Scott Nelson.

So we are sitting in the glow of the roaring campfire and Ron is playing audio from the Sierra Sounds. It was surreal.

Pics from Beachfoot 2009

Lincoln City, OR

On Friday morning we set out from Autumn's house in 2 cars.

I rode with Autumn on the way to Wal-Mart to pick up some supplies. We had about 45 minutes discussion of many issues in bigfoot research and she sure did teach me many things I had not known before.

As a side note, I like the fact that I am so new to this field compared to many of you, and I learn new things and keep an open mind. I do not have any convictions that would prevent me from listening and understanding other people's points of view.

Let me first tell you that we are on our way to an event called Beachfoot. This is the second annual gathering of Beachfoot and it is by invitation only. Don't worry, I wasn't invited, I kind of tagged along as a "plus-one". Believe me, I would not have been invited on my own merit. The guest list was premiere.

We pull in to the Halderman estate, 7 acres of rural land donated for the weekend by Hal and Lupe Halderman. Todd Neiss is there to greet us and he takes us up the hill to get registered. I figured we would check in, go get some dinner change and come back for the campfire chat. Well, I decided I was not going to be in "reporter" mode since I was an unofficial guest and didn't want to ruffle any feathers. So of course I am not prepared with a camera or audio recorder when Bob Gimlim comes up and gives Craig Woolheater a big hug and starts laughing and joking with him.

I shake Mr. Gimlin's hand and I am sure I muttered something totally unintelligent. I was in awe of this handsome, sweet cowboy!

As we make our way back towards the camp area we are greeted by Tom Yamarone, Cliff Barackman Paul Graves and Jerry Hein. Bob Gimlin then invites us to have dinner with them. He brought some fresh ground buffalo to make burgers. We run off to the store to get buns, beans and I got some salmon for myself...I didn't want to eat a buffalo! LOL!

We returned and the gang enjoyed buffalo burgers, ranch style beans and fresh veges from Bob's garden. Yams and Jerry and Paul did most of the cooking and it was the best meal I had in days!

Steve Inness joined us along with his friend Jason. We finally got the salmon cooked and Bob was like, "Oh boy, salmon! Can I have a piece of that?" In my head I am thinking Bob, you can have it all! but he just wanted a little and half was for Autumn too...it turned out great!

After dinner we headed to the campfire and sat around while Autumn sang, and Yams and Paul played guitar. It was so much fun!

I am sitting behind Ron Moorehead, and Orey Inness...there are so many faces! Such notables of the bigfoot world!

Then as the evening goes on, a familiar face comes alight by the fire's glow as he walks closer to the circle....Bruce Harrington!? LOL! He sees Diane Stocking and says hello, gives her a hug and a kiss, then he sees me and comes over and does the same! It was good to see another familiar face! By another, I mean Diane, she greeted me with open arms and a big hug.

We then retire and promise to meet back Saturday morning at 10 a.m. for presentations and more.....

Elkton, Oregon

We head out early to get to Autumn William's home.

Why can't we stick to schedule?

We decide to take another 1.5 hour detour to go see Crater Lake. I'm just as guilty as the rest for wanting to add this stop. It was really cool.

We finally arrive at Autumn's and she is playing her piano and singing as we stand in the doorway listening. She has a beautiful voice and I hinted to her that I would love to sell her CD on my website.

She shows us around and is so so happy to see her buddy Craig. She then takes us next door to meet her mom, Sali and her dad, Bob...oh! and grandpa Bill!

Sali's house is the most wonderful thing to see! Each room is decorated with a theme and it would take weeks to see every treasure that is tucked away in each room!

If you all think Autumn is beauiful, you should know that she gets her looks from her mother! And funny, too! The whole family has such a wonderful sense of humor and made me feel so comfortable and right at home with them!

We went out to the local eatery for a quick bite then back to Autumn's to hang out and shoot the breeze.

This is has been a once in a lifetime trip for this Bigfoot Field Reporter.

I have to get permission to tell you all about the rest of the journey, and I hope I can! You won't be disappointed!

You want a what?

Well, we are getting pretty far up north now. We are waving goodbye to Linda and Bob at Happy Camp to travel 2 hours out of our way for an In-N-Out burger.

You're kidding me, right? I don't even like hamburgers, but, I'm just along for the ride.

So we head north to Redding, CA...the last place in California to get an In-N-Out burger before hitting the Oregon border.

The drive is beautiful going around Mt. Shasta. I'm getting crabby.

So we get there, have some so-so hamburgers, and everybody is happy.

I guess it's "cool" to say I had one. I still prefer Big Macs.

When we become the story

So after a while of chatting with Bob and Linda, we decided to go check out the area where a forest ranger had a sighting of a bigfoot in 2005.

We followed Linda and Bob about 5 miles up the road and pulled over.

Linda began relaying the story of how this forest ranger was on her way to work at about 8 a.m. when a large, hairy, bi-pedal creature crossed the 2 lane road in front of her and proceeded up a steep hill with about a 90 degree angle.

The woman was shaken and when she got to work she reported to her supervisor what she observed. The supervisor then went to check out the area around noon, and claims to have seen the creature sitting at the top of the hill staring down.

So here we all are walking across the road, imagining how it went down for the ranger. We were poking around on the hillside when all of a sudden Bob yells out that he thinks he found an impression.

The impression was impressive! I crawled up the embankment and was checking it out when I noticed how deep and distinct was every toe! It appeared as if the creature making the print had stepped or maybe leaped about 5 feet from the road and onto the hillside, but had needed his full weight on his toes to traverse the steep terrain.

I took some pics and Bob was ecstatic! He had just been talking about how disappointed he was in not having found any sign in the years that he had lived in Happy Camp!

Linda and Bob promised that they would come back to cast the print the next morning.

How did it come out guys?

Happy Camp

Today we are taking a 12 hour drive north, stopping to visit Linda Jo Martin and Bob at Happy Camp!

We arrived in the small town of Happy Camp, only to find that there was no cell reception here either, surprise surprise.

We stopped at the local convenient store and asked to use their telephone book to look up Linda's number. We find her listed in the phone book and realize we can't call without cell reception. The clerk was gracious to let us use the store phone.

We got ahold of Linda and she said she'd meet us at the Bigfoot Statue on the corner!

We waited a few minutes and took pics in the blistering heat.

Linda and Bob pull up and we all started talking and taking pics together and with the statue.

Bob told me a story of his encounter in the late 70's. He had been camping out alone, doing some bow hunting. He drifted off to sleep and was awakened by what he assumed was a police siren...not the full siren, but the tail end of a siren if you can imagine what sound I am trying to describe.

He figured it was probably just a local cop making his rounds and he drifted back off to sleep, only to be awakened again by the same sound! He didn't think much of it until it became apparent that this police officer must be in trouble and was sounding off his siren for assistance.

Bob didn't go to check it out, he was too tired. In the morning, he began grilling up some hamburgers when all of a sudden he heard the sound again! This time he was determined to figure out what the heck was going on..he grabbed his bow and took off after the sound.

He never did see what it was, but he heard it continue it's siren like call up and over the mountainside.

He burned the burgers.

Extraction

When Bobo and Slash saw the car, they were like, "Whoa dude! This is F**ked up!" They decided the best course of action was to tip the vehicle over the edge and call it in stolen. LMAO...love it!

Craig of course said no and we removed every piece of gear, luggage, coolers, etc. from the back of the Santa Fe. We climbed into Bobo's truck, but there was no room for Slasher so he rode the back of the truck, up the mountain and removed his shirt at one point while hanging on with one hand!

We finally get to the top of the mountain, which seemed to be about a 5 mile ride, and Mike and Diana are looking at us like, uh oh...where is the car?

Then we told the stories, tried to call loved ones...spotty cell coverage. Then we played a game of hide and seek all through Orleans and Willow Creek.

In our hunt for a wrecker service to extract the vehicle, Bobo went one way, we went another and before long we were separated from the gang. Sheesh!

I stayed at the Bigfoot Motel, while everyone else took care of the tow truck etc. About 9 pm I am upset. I imagined they all went over the mountain...finally I get a call and they got the truck out, for a mere $597.50 fee.

I treated the guys to steak dinners. They deserved it!

Bobo and Slash stayed with Wooly until the whole mess was over. They are my personal heroes and I hope to meet up and hang out with them again some day soon.

Word of the day-Harrowing

So, we all start getting up and shaking off the chill from the night. The sun slowly begins to make it's presence known. Breakfasts are made, hikes to the creek for one last look-see.

We break camp and load everything into the rental Santa Fe and people pile into Bobo's truck to head up the mountain. Great, we are getting an early start!

Bobo sped up a little so he wouldn't dust us out. The sun is getting warmer.

We were traveling a little ways behind Bobo and I was taking video of the crazy ride from the back seat, and Brad was taking still shots with his fancy camera.

I gaze upwards at the rock slide area and said, "Hey Brad, that is a great photo op". At this point Mr. Woolheater, thought he would help us out by stopping so we could take a picture.

The Santa Fe is a front wheel drive vehicle. Craig then gave it a little gas to get our momentum going when the shale and other loose rocks shifted and slid the truck to the edge of the drop off.

We were screwed.

We tooted the horn hoping Bobo would hear our S.O.S. but to no avail.

We didn't want to disrupt the vehicle in any way for fear of it tumbling down the mountainside. After about 15 minutes, I said, "I have to get out, my leg is pinned against this gear and is going numb". Brad then instructed me to open the door very slowly without jiggling. This was difficult as the passenger door was tilted at an angle due to the position of the car and I had to work against gravity to hold the door open so I could get out. I was like a ninja I tell ya. I slowly slid out of the back seat and was tempted to scream SEE YA! and take off running for dear life. But, I stayed. I tried to assess our situation.

Craig and Brad are big guys and their weight was holding the car steady.

I used Brad's camera to take pics of the tire angles so they could make a plan of action.

There was no way this car was moving without going down the mountain.

I helped Brad exit the vehicle by holding the passenger side door open and anchoring it with my entire body weight...he got out. One to go.

i was constantly letting out my very loud whistles to get anyone's attention. Nothing.

So Craig is sitting in the vehicle alone. He could not go out the driver side door because it would have brought the car down with him. We decided to wait it out for the return of the rest of the tour gang.

Then we heard the rocks giving way beneath the front tire!

We said, we gotta get him out of there!

Brad and I both anchored the car from the passenger side, using our full weight.

Craig then slowly slid from the driver's side to the passenger side. and finally popped out.

What a relief!

I said he moved slowly, but I never saw a man his size move so quickly or nimbly!

After about 10 minutes of ground kissing and high fives, Bobo returns with Slash..did I mention how cool those guys are?

Bobo and Slash

So there we are sitting around in the dark.
(We are not allowed to have a fire due to the many forest fires. The firefighters are local heroes around here..restaurants open up for them after a long day of putting out fires.)

It was now approaching 11 pm and we had given up on Bobo when all of a sudden, careening down the mountain side at about 60 mph and coming to a screeching halt within inches of Diana's chair, it's Bobo!

This dude is HUGE! He introduces us to his friend Jimmy, and they are two of the coolest dudes ever! They have the whole California surfer vibe going on...squatching in flip flops...they were a riot!

Bobo and Jimmy (aka "Slash") kept us entertained with stories all night long.

It was freezing out. We all retired about 2 am. Bobo and Slash camped further down from our campsite and it wasn't long before Bobo came back to our camp and told us there were squatches in the creek. Mike, Diana and Brad heard an odd whistling all night but that is about all, no sightings, no rock throwing.

To be continued......

Bluff Creek or Bust!

Met up with the entire gang in front of the Bigfoot Museum in Willow Creek. The museum is usually closed on Mondays, but they opened it up just for me since I had never been there before! I felt honored!

I took some video and pictures and those will be forthcoming.

We then headed up the road to meet Steve at his bookstore. He was going to be our guide into Bluff Creek.

We eventually get on the road to Bluff Creek, and the lead vehicle pulls off the road and we follow. I was a little tired and didn't realize that we had actually pulled up to The Bluff Creek Company store! This was the actual place that Bob and Roger got their supplies.

A gentleman approached us and he knew Steve. He was the owner of the property and I asked him so many questions! He did request that nothing be reported about my conversation with him. However, I can tell you that he has plans to tear down the building if he cannot sell the property! He is asking a FIRM $650,000.00. Soooooo, if there is anyone out there who is interested....my birthday is August 27th! :)

We then proceed past Fish Lake, which in hindsight would have been the best area to spend the night but anyway... we drove through the mountains until the Believe it Tour van could go no further. We then consolidated all the gear and people into two trucks. Steve led the way down the mountain. It was highly treacherous with just a narrow road with the side of the mountain on one side and a straight drop down on the other. Driving verrrrrrry slowly we finally arrive at the bottom, and there she is! Not Patty, Bluff Creek. It was a very reverent feeling being there. I felt like a kid at Disneyland.

Steve then took us to the film site. It was a nice hike through dense brush and fallen trees. The actual sighting area seemed so small when you see it in person. Crossing over some fallen trees, I fell through a beaver hole, swallowing my entire right leg! I was glad there weren't any angry beavers in the hole!

Took lots of pictures! I know you are all waiting for the pictures!

We hiked back and set up camp. Steve was not spending the night with us and he soon departed leaving us alone, at Bluff Creek with one vehicle.

We sat around, talked, ate dinner and waited for James "Bobo" Fay to arrive.

Sunday, August 16, 2009

Drove 4 hours to Willow Creek to meet up with the Believe it Tour gang. I stopped too many times taking pictures of things bigfoot related.

Checked into the Bigfoot Motel, then drove up to Cinnabar Sams to meet the Believe it Tour gang, Mike, Diana and Brad. Also in attendance were Linda Jo Martin and Steve Sreufert, the owner of Bigfoot Books in Willow Creek. Steve had a lot of knowledge about bigfoot in the area.

We all went back to the motel and changed into squatching clothes. Steve took us to Brush Mountain Lookout for a little night hiking and squatching.

We were able to play around with the thermal camera and Gen III night vision. We didn't see anything but we had a great time watching the meteor shower.

Headed back to the hotel for a good night's sleep!

Saturday, August 15, 2009

Arrived in Sacramento and proceeded to drive 2 hours to Vacaville to meet Bob and Kathy Strain, and John and Montra Freitas for dinner. I did not interview them at all, but we just ate, laughed and had a good time! John and Montra wanted to see the movie District 9 so we all went to the movie theater across the street. I had been awake for over 24 hours at this point and slept through the whole movie.
That's about it for this day.

Salt Fork State Park Audio

Many people have requested this audio file from me since the release of Don Keating's DVD Sasquatch at Salt Fork.

Listen closely!

Salt Fork State Park Audio

Monday August 10, 2009

Good Morning! I have had one busy morning! On my way to work I witnessed a car accident and was first on the scene to administer aid to the young girl.

But enough of that. Here, as promised is the 27 minute long audio of my arrival and some activity at the outing I attended this past Friday night.

The audio starts out with me talking to Dwayne. Eric and Dave then proceed to call blast, without warning me first!

It is fun to listen to, you can imagine being there in the pitch dark. 10:30 p.m. In the middle of nowhere. We were about 150 yards from where the cars were parked.

At 8:13 (time on the audio, not actual time of day) you will hear the rock whipping through the trees then hitting the fence. Then my famous words.
