Good Riddance 2011

I don't know about you but I hated 2011.  Plagued with personal road blocks that you don't really need to hear about, I find that I am all too ready to shake it off and start anew.

I've got a few readers who share their thoughts with me, more good than bad, and I appreciate all of the positive feedback and great tips I receive!

I just received this doozy from Jill regarding one of my friends, James "Bobo" Fay.  As you may know Bobo is becoming the breakout star on the show Finding Bigfoot.  Little did we know that Bobo has been a star his entire life!  Whether he is chasing Bigfoot or crab fishing in Alaska, he makes the most out of life and never ceases to amaze me.

Have fun with this little video and see how many times you spot the young, handsome, athletic Bobo.  (Hint, he is wearing a yellow t-shirt and blue shorts.  He does a squatch dance at around the 2:51 mark.)

I predict that 2012 is going to be the year of the female Bigfoot researcher.  Watch out boys!  Here we come!

Finger is NOT of a Yeti

I am sorry to report that the mystery of a yeti finger taken from Nepal half a century ago has been solved with the help of scientists at Edinburgh Zoo.

A DNA sample analyzed by the zoo's genetic expert Dr Rob Ogden has finally revealed the finger's true origins.
Following DNA tests it has found to be human bone.
A deep breath was exhaled from the Ketchum camp and they are still in the running to produce the first viable Sasquatch DNA evidence.

Salt Fork Bigfoot Captured on Film?

Watch as the creature uses an entire tree to "knock".  This is quite amazing footage and I would love to know more about the videographer and the events pertaining to the capture of this video.

June 12 Follow-Up

I've been battling pneumonia this past week and it has really brought me down.  There is nothing worse than not having the energy to go on an investigation!

This past June I shared a story with you all Things That Go Bump in the Night and have had several follow-up conversations with Doc, the witness.
If you recall, Doc had a pet billy goat named, Billy who alerted Doc to visitors on his property.

Yesterday I received a phone call from Doc and to keep this brief as I am very run down I will just give you the highlights of the conversation until I can follow it up with another on-site visit.

Friday night, Doc heard a ruckus out back and on Saturday morning, he found Billy dead with a broken neck.
Doc claims to have several images on his game cams that could indicate that the grey colored Bigfoot is to blame.
I will get more info later but I feel with the holidays this week it is going to be near impossible for me to get down there.  I will shoot for the first weekend in January.

Sasquatch watchers following Bigfoot blogs for the latest news on their favorite subject

Last week I was contacted by Sharon Hill of Doubtfulnews.com, to take part in an interview about people who blog about Bigfoot.  I was flattered that she considered my blog one of the favorites.  I was honored to share the spotlight with Guy Edwards with the Bigfoot Lunch Club and Shawn of Bigfoot Evidence.  I know that we will all continue to share Bigfoot related news and events in the best possible light for many years to come.

Her article can be read in it's entirety HERE

Quote-
I contacted three bloggers who run popular Bigfoot-focused sites and asked them how and why they do what they do. All three blogs have different personalities. And, all three writers are committed to providing the Bigfoot researcher community and the casual interested visitor with something of value. None of them say that they will be going away any time soon. Sharon Hill

Reason, Science and Sanity in Bigfoot Research

A few days ago Steven Streufert added me to this new page he created on Facebook which he called  "Coalition for Reason, Science and Sanity in Bigfoot Research.  The group is just starting out, and is very small, I believe there are 86 members today.

We were having several very nice, intriguing discussions among many threads, the most active one being,  "Do you think the government already knows about Bigfoot and possibly already recovered a body? Why would they not tell us about it?"

Another thread soon turned to DNA evidence and more people were added to the group.  Now it was getting interesting.

There are those who believe that Bigfoot can disappear into thin air, or appear as another creature, or explode into a ball of pure, white light.  Some believe the Bigfoot to be a primate with no hominid qualities, then there are others who deem these beings as "Forest PEOPLE" implying that the Bigfoot is as human as any of us reading this, but with more hair.  I won't say which group I belong to, and you can decide for yourself where you fit in, however, perhaps we need to dissect each group and try to rationalize, irrationally, what can be happening.

I believe in the possibility that there are extra-terrestrial beings and UFO's. I believe in the possibility of angels and demons.  I believe in the possibility of Bigfoots, Dogmen, Mothmen, Skunk Apes, Sea Serpents and Chupacabras.

I am not going to rule out anything just because I have not experienced it first hand.  BUT, if you are going to try to convince me that the owl I hear is really a Bigfoot IMITATING an owl, then I suggest you turn the video camera around and post THAT on Youtube.  I am willing to view any physical evidence you can provide with a very wide open mind.

I was intrigued by the video of the angel who came to a young girl's hospital door moments after she was taken off of life support, and the girl survived.  Now maybe I'm just gullible, but that was very intriguing!

I would venture to say that if a researcher was out in the woods and a bright light enveloped them, they may have had an alien or spiritual encounter.  But why would this researcher (no one in particular)  believe that it was a Bigfoot encounter?

Everything that occurs is open to individual interpretation, so for the sake of research, we must begin to separate interpretation from cold, hard, scientific fact.

We have so many different types of people putting forth information, while not really accurate but perhaps their own interpretation of what is going on out in them thar woods.

We have the Youtubers who really think they are going to be the next "break-out" reality show star.  Then we have organizations that instruct hundreds of members to pay dues and to follow the rules of said organization.  Then there are the people who claim habituation, but refuse to share their Bigfoot with the world with any hard evidence but we are to just take them at their word.  Then there are those who are all too eager to show their Bigfoot evidence, usually in the form of blobsquatches, leaves, tree stumps, air....you get the picture ;).  And then we have those who communicate with the Bigfoot through mind-speak.  Now, if you are not actually seeing the Bigfoot, how do you know you are not reading the mind of a chipmunk or woodchuck?
It is all so very frustrating and it becomes more frustrating when the ones who want hard, solid facts sit by and watch as innocent enthusiasts flock to the new Bigfoot gurus, or flit from one belief to another.

We so wanted the Georgia Bigfoot in the freezer to be the real deal.  We wanted that flesh and blood body to be 100% legitimate, and not an alien, or a spirit.  Yet once again, we were disappointed.  Perhaps at some point during our infatuation with Bigfoot, we simply give in to the idea that it just may be something not of this world.

I hope to hear a lot of feedback from eyewitness who can attest to the fact that this creature is real.  Warm blooded, oxygen breathing, omnivorous with a sense of humor and a taste for exotic spices.

Norfork Man Recounts Bigfoot Encounter

The encounter happened, according to LaBrecque, between 9-10 p.m. near a woodpile behind LaBrecque's home in the Windsor Heights suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. Prior to the altercation, LaBrecque says he observed almost nightly a Bigfoot specimen — about 8 feet tall — that sometimes appeared with two apparently juvenile Bigfoot creatures.
A closeup look at Clifford LaBrecque's model of Bigfoot
I find that the full facial hair is interesting.  Many people claim that the Bigfoot they see has little or no hair on the cheeks/face.  Marc DeWerth captured some fascinating footage many years ago and it clearly depicts an ink black face with full facial hair coverage.  I hope he converts it to an electronic file soon!

Matt Moneymaker on the Ketchum DNA Project

This comment made by Matt on Cryptomundo has been given it's own thread.  Visit Cryptomundo for the full text.
Heard from a reliable source connected with an article reviewer for Nature (a major science journal published in the UK) that the Ketchum paper was handed back (i.e. not *rejected*) for several reasons.
One of the reasons: The paper “does not contain a testable hypothesis”. Not that the paper writers forgot to include something … It’s apparently more an issue of what is, and what is not, “testable” … and it’s a very technical matter that may not be resolved any time soon …

Studysasquatch on YouTube

There is a researcher in New Mexico who uploads videos of his research on YouTube.  I appreciate that his focus is on the research and not on himself!  I love this video of something "peeking" into camp at approximately 4:30 a.m. You can see it lower right of center.

He also recorded some very convincing howls:
Tell me what you think!  I hear a small whoop at the end of the howls!

A Message From Dr. Melba Ketchum

From Melba Ketchum-"For all of the people speculating on the Erickson project, Adrian and I have agreed to set aside the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) to tell you that his group is a successful participant in this project. His research project to obtain the DNA samples is separate from us. His samples will be in the paper along with all of the successful submitters. And, yes, his great footage will come out so lets let all of the rumors go, OK? And once again, please know that we are at the mercy of the journal as to when we can announce. Thanks!"
Then

Then

NOW! Wow!
Wow what a difference a little money makes!

Dr. Igor Burtsev's Rebuttal

SIBERIAN TAIGA RESPONSE TO SKEPTICS

As Kemerovo region officials reported, a scientific conference featuring a boxing legend, Nikolai Valuev, and U.S. Bigfoot believers held in beginning of October, 2011 in that region of Russia, has claimed that it found "95 percent evidence" for the existence of a Yeti-like hominoid in southern Siberia.
But the opposition politicians ridiculed the findings as pure pre-election publicity for United Russia. On another hand, all this might attract so far is tourism, said the scientific opponents.

And just in less than a month after the Conference the Siberian taiga answered to both the politicians’ and other suspicious scientific skeptics’ accusations. See following.

On November 6 a resident of the Tashtagol city Yuri Koungoushev with his wife Svetlana and two daughters arrived for the weekend to their summer cabin in the forest not far from the city. They noticed big footprints in the snow which crossed the yard and went up a steep slope through the bushes. The family were surprised and scared by the size of the strides that were close to 4,5 – 5 feet. In some footprints they could see imprints of toes. The footprints crossed also a 14 feet wide creek, not having broken the thin ice on its surface, i.e. the creature just jumped over that fairly wide creek.
The stride up the slope became shorter, about three feet, but still too long for a human walking up that slope.

Yuri took shots with his film camera and made video-clip of the event. The family didn’t stay at the house for the night for fear of the creature, they returned to the city and informed the local newspaper about their findings.
On the next day the photo-reporter Kirill Sazanov with other collegues came to the spot and was convinced that those were real tracks of a huge biped. He also took several photos of the footprints, but fresh fallen snow made them not so visible. Anyway, the newsmen were very excited with what they saw and published an article about it which the local people sent over to me.
I connected later with Kirill, and he has sent me the video and photos of the findings.

Thus it looks that the Snowman decided to show to the skeptics that he really exists in Highland Shoria, and was not made up by the authorities for their electoral purposes, and not deceiving the international public. Of course, the authorities showed their wisdom and flexibility and attracted this phenomenon for the good of their population, which is worthy of praise.

And at the same time their attitude objectively contributes to progress in the study of these mysterious bipeds. For this the researchers-hominologists are very grateful to them.

Incident at Boiling Springs Campground, Idaho

This story comes to me from a reader who is interested in learning if there are other reports, sightings or incidents near the Boiling Springs Campground area.

Witness report-My bigfoot story begins with me reading about three other reported sightings in the area of Boiling Springs Camp Ground between 2008 to 2010. So I decided to do my bear hunting at the same site.

The day was Saturday, September 24th, 2011. My friend Eric and I were bear hunting and we set out about 8am. The weather was clear and sunny; the temperature was about 46 degrees. We hiked about 2 miles up the south fork of the Payette river and crossed over to start moving into the tree line.
After about a half mile we were moving up hill and were stopped by the noise of something moving through the brush. We did not see anything as the wilderness up there is quite thick. We got behind a large downed pine tree and waited to see if the thing would continue to come in our direction and it didn’t, so after 20 minutes we decided to walk in the direction of where we heard the noise, we got about 150 yards up a old game trail and were moving up hill and come to a small stream with water running in it, but the bushes were so thick you couldn’t see the water. During the hike there were typical forest sounds such as birds, squirrels and bugs. Once we got closer to the bushes the forest was dead silent and at one point I told Eric to listen and he said he couldn’t hear anything and I said that’s what I am talking about there are no noises at all. As we moved closer to the bushes a large but new green pine cone with pine needles still attached came flying out of the bushes in our direction. So we stopped and looked at each other and not knowing what to think we decided to move closer and I am scanning the hill with my weapon L-to-R and then I noticed as we got closer to the bush a rock the size of a softball maybe a little bigger came out of the bushes at Eric, it wasn’t really thrown at him but it was in his direction for sure, so we stopped and I put my weapon on fire at this point and am in full Recon mode as we walked even closer at this point we are about 30yards from the bushes still moving up hill and from a different area up and to the right and further up the hill another pine cone came at me this time, and Eric asked me what we should do and I said let’s get out of here because to be honest I wasn’t ready to kill something that I don’t know what is was….we never saw anything but I do feel like something strange happened up there.

Back at the campsite there were no other hunters in the camp and we saw no other hunters as we moved through the woods. At no time did anyone announce their presence which is what I would have thought a hunter would have done considering we had our weapons pointed at them.

We were on the downhill side of the encounter and the wind was not heading in our direction but we did not smell anything out of the ordinary. Please keep in mind Sharon I am a Special Forces Trained Solider as a Force Recon Marine and Air Force Combat Controller and have three tours in combat there isn’t much that get the hairs on my neck to stand up but in that moment, it’s hard to explain but I was on edge.

I have spent a lot of time in the wilderness around the world from jungle, deep woods to tundra both hunting and training while I was in the military, I know how to be a part of my surroundings blend in.

Previous sightings reported on the BFRO:

The first sighting was in 2008 by a husband and wife on ATV’s and it was at the end of Sept. they were riding on the Forest Service Road and the wife saw what looked like a hairy tall person run across the road in front of her and up the hill so she speeded up to catch up to her husband whom was around the counter looking up at the same thing, and they both realized that they saw a bigfoot.

LOCATION DETAILS: Near Crouch Idaho(Valley County) about 20 or so miles up rd.# 698 is Boiling Springs Campground and a few hundred yards away is a forest service cabin and a creek right next to the campground. On November 1st 2009 around 8:00 p.m. we saw something between the trees between our sight and the rest rooms. It was walking back and forth in the clearing and swaying back and forth in the same spot when it stopped to better see us through the opening in the trees. Nothing occured to us except it maybe have been some one but we were the only campers for miles. The following year in October 30th 2010 around 10:00 p.m. at the same location we were getting spooked by the area for no reason and we actually packed up and left when again there were no other campers and we heard what sounded like a large boulder about 75-100 yards away hit the ground with a great thud. No boulder rolling or crashing down a hill but like it was thrown or dropped out of the air. No smells or sightings except a few possible 11 inch tracks in the dirt a month prior while hunting in that area.

Vocalizations reported in June of 2004

The Bigfoot Breakdown

Although crudely written, still is worth reading
Have you been to the Bigfoot Trap? It's located in the Siskiyou National Forest in Jackson County. Tourists visit the trap to see if a Bigfoot can be caught. Since it was completed in 1974, the legendary creature has yet to be captured in it.

Yet, the hunt for Sasquatch continues intensely today, among experts and folks in southern Oregon.

Bigfoot has a dedicated research organization, the "Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization," that documents sightings across the nation. Bigfoot even has a dedicated television series called "Finding Bigfoot" on the Animal Planet channel. They try using modern technology to find it.

But it's the scientific community at large who doesn't believe Bigfoot exists.

Dr. Matthew Johnson is out to change that. Eleven years ago, he says he encountered a Bigfoot and since then he's aimed to prove their existence.

Johnson's research is well known his work can be found in local articles and websites.

"As far as my credibility is concerned, I had some people who accused me of making this whole thing up, as a way to drum up business as a psychologist, like 'come see me, I'm the psychologist who just saw Bigfoot.' Like, yeah, that's a good marketing strategy." Johnson said.

Johnson has marketed things before not dealing with Bigfoot.

He's done seminars across the country and sells a book he wrote on parenting.

On his website, www.family-rules.com, you won't find any mention of Johnson's Bigfoot encounter.

"Immediately following the year after my family's encounter, I attended the Oregon Psychological Association's annual conference." said Dr. Johnson, "The president asked me to stand up to 300 of my peers and said, 'this is Dr. Matthew Johnson, and he's the guy who saw Bigfoot with his family and had the courage to come out and say it.' and I got a standing ovation from all 300 psychologists there. It was a real coming out to say these beings exist."

There are many others who believe Johnson.

Karl Haekler is a Grants Pass native, a veteran of Iraq's Operation Freedom and a lifelong outdoorsman.

"There is something that makes human-like tracks in our forests." Haekler said.

Within 20 miles of Grants Pass is an area where Dr. Johnson says a family of Bigfoots may live.

That's one of the many research/interaction sites where Doctor Johnson and his team camp for a couple days. Their goal is to interact with the creatures at night.

To gather data, Dr. Johnson will spray paint tracks and use a parabolic microphone to capture sounds.

"They may try and imitate owls and make more 'whoop' noises." He said.

Johnson said the best way to interact with them is in darkness. No flashlights. No campfires.

"Bigfooting is like fishing. Some days you get lots of bites, lots of action. Other days, you get nothing."

Another sound he captures is wood-knocking -- the sound Bigfoot allegedly makes when hitting an object against a tree.

"It happens at the time of day when they're calling the others in. Cause it's time to start bedding down." said Johnson.

Johnson's girlfriend, Cynthia Kreitzberg, is part of the team and plays tunes with her recorder -- hoping to invite the creatures.

"I'd always believed that Sasquatch was real, but I thought they were extinct. Finding out otherwise has been fun." she said.

In the mornings, Dr. Johnson spray-paints and finds prints to make cast of the footprint.

"You see the heel here on the dirt. It comes up here and you can see, kind of lightly, the impressions of the toes working its way up here and back down like right there." said Johnson pointing to the tracks.

Johnson says the creatures have a mid-torsal break, where the front of their foot can bend forward curling down to grip.

Johnson says the Bigfoots can scale steep mountain sides "with great ease."

To prove authenticity, Johnson shows off some his most revealing foot casts.

"I think they are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. Early on, my goal was to get them identified, protect their habitat, but I think they have things under control. My goal now is to come out and interact with them. Get to know 'em."

However, anthropologists from the University of Oregon and Wildlife biologists from Oregon's Fish and Wildlife hesitate to conclude that Johnson's findings prove the existence of Bigfoot.

"Dermal ridges... if you really wanted to could probably be faked." said Dr. John Lukacs, a longtime professor of Anthropology.

Lukacs is more familiar with the Asian version of Sasquatch, known as the Yeti.

He spent three field trips to Nepal where natives still report sightings of the Yeti.

It's in Southeast Asia where fossil evidence dating back over 300,000 years shows the existence of a giant ape known as Gigantopithecus.

Scientists say they are extinct, but Bigfoot researchers believe those giant apes are the ancestors of Sasquatch.

Lukacs is skeptical.

Citing evolutionary biology and population dynamics, Lukacs said primates typically travel in groups of at least 25 individuals.

"The fact that the evidences seem to pick up a footprint or a footprint track or a sighting of an individual, seems to me, contrary to the idea these animals exist, in reality." said Lukacs.

Another University of Oregon anthropologist, Doctor Stephen Frost agrees with that critique.

"All of the evidence that's ever been put forward is always a trace sort of evidence. It's unclear whether it could be faked or not. You know there are very clever people out there." said Frost.

Frost takes his criticism further, discounting the ways current bigfoot researchers prove the beast's existence.

"No one has found any visible scat, or tooth, or hair -- anything that could be verified in a scientific manner." Frost adds.

Johnson had recordings of what he says were bigfoots roaming around his campsite near Grants Pass.

Oregon Fish and Wildlife biologists hesitate to really separate those sounds from the sounds of what could actually be animals.

"It's difficult to distinguish sounds from far away. Especially with all the different types of vocalizations our wildlife can have. You know bears from a distance can make different noises, deer, elk...some birds can make some really interesting noises. Just to hear a sound and confirm somethin' it would be very difficult for me to prove."said Mark Vargas, a local district Wildlife Biologist.

A book review in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology sums up the take on Bigfoot today in the academic world.

Written by Matt Cartmill at Duke University, he compares the work of two scientists with differing views on Bigfoot.

Jeff Meldrum, from Idaho State University, agrees with Johnson in saying some of the footprints show anatomical features "that are too subtle and technical to have been generated by inexpert lay pranksters."

But University of Florida anthropologist David Daegling says pranksters can be experts too.

Fake Bigfoots like the Bardin Booger, Cripplefoot, and the Minnesota Iceman Cadaver are all examples of the length some folks have gone to prove its existence.

Daegling's fundamental question: Why do people report encounters with an animal that doesn't exist?

Try asking that to folks like Johnson.

"Just had a visual three weeks ago where one walked up during our night-sit area, where one walked up to the three of us, and walked right by me, and bumped me, spun me around, as it walked by and back into the trees and brush on the other side of our night-sit area." said Johnson.

Cartmill said it's hard to demonstrate that something doesn't exist.

Some philosophers say it can't be done.

Perhaps that's why folks continue their fascination with Bigfoot today.

Seasons Greetings to the Squatcher in all of us!

With the Christmas season quickly approaching, I thought I would give you all easy access to the most popular websites featuring Bigfoot items that your favorite Squatcher would enjoy under the tree or in their stocking!
Of course I must begin with my friend Mike Esordi's Bigfoot Surplus which features many of his unique and creative designs!

One truly great find were these amazing Bigfoot collectibles from Bigfoot Valley. They are hand-painted and mounted on a base made of real Manzanita wood. These whimsical creatures each have their own distinct personality.
You'll want to collect them all!

For the person who likes to wear their passion on their sleeve, I suggest the Sasqwatch! I have a pink one :)
For your holiday decorating needs, Bronner's Christmas Wonderland has both a Bigfoot and a Yeti Christmas tree ornament. They do have another Bigfoot bulb ornament in their catalog, but I did not see it on their website. So maybe you might want to request a catalog from them!
Now many of you have seen the 3 foot tall Bigfoot garden statue by Toscano that many Squatchers show off on their profile pics, but did you know that Toscano has a new Bigfoot item to share? I love this, I saw it in their catalog, it is the Bashful Bigfoot. He clings to trees in your yard and is less expensive than the garden statue. Also, not to be outdone by Bronner's, Toscono offers this adorable ornament.
Don't forget the Bigfoot Researcher Calendar and coffee mugs you can order here.

And of course there are the multitudes of books written by everyone from Dr. Jeff Meldrum to author David Coleman who has spent the last few years researching every Bigfoot movie and documentary he could get his hands on for his newest creation The Bigfoot Filmography: Fictional and Documentary Appearances in Film and Television, his epic examination of all-things Bigfoot-related as appears on tv and in movies. And every researcher should read the conversation invoking book Enoch, by Autumn Williams.

Also, many DVD favorites such as Sean Whitley's Southern Fried Bigfoot ; Don Keating's Sasquatch at Salt Fork DVD which can be ordered through Don directly @ http://www.eobic.net; and the theatrical thriller BIGFOOT! starring Bob Gray.

And as we all know, Christmas is for GIVING! You can donate to my cause, or better yet, make charitable donations to Michael Rugg's Bigfoot Discovery Museum in Felton, California and/or Peter Byrne's International Wildlife Conservation Society.

And for your Christmas Card giving, a message from Robert Swain:

"I know that this isn't Black Friday or even Cyber Monday, but just wanted to throw out that Laughsquatch Christmas cards are available.

Kyle Hester-Artist

So many Bigfoot enthusiasts have artistic talent! Must be because their minds are more open and imaginative!

I received some creatively adorable artwork from Kyle Hester who is an elementary art teacher.

I asked Kyle if I could feature the artwork on my blog and told him (her?) that others might want to copy the pics and use them on Facebook to which Kyle replied,
"I would love to sell them but more importantly, for me,
I want people to enjoy them, so please post them. Please let me know
about any feedback."

So please feel free to contact Kyle at bigfootkyle@gmail.com with your feedback or simply comment here!
Enjoy!

Sorry Friends

I know there hasn't been much headway being made in proving the existence of Bigfoot to the general population. We go into the woods as often as we can looking for one shred of evidence that will keep us coming back.

Thanks to social networking, we now have access to hundreds of backyard squatchers. There are videos popping up everyday, new blogs, numerous radio shows, hundreds of blogsquatch photos and unfortunately, one too many "authorities" on the subject.

So many of you, us, want to see that indisputable piece of evidence. Some want it so badly that they actually see a Bigfoot in the pictures and videos that are quite obviously fakes or hoaxes.

Sometimes owls are simply owls. Sometimes old men walk in front of a camera and take video of themselves. Sometimes people want to be on television so badly that they create a situation to put themselves in the limelight. Enough is enough!

For the people who have had a face-to-face encounter, perhaps they can speak a little more loudly against the actions of those who are creating this hype.

Ben Rivers

Last night I received an email from a person named Ben Rivers. I have no idea who he is, I have never heard of him before and I am not sure how many others he sent this email to.

It appears Rivers has created a blog for one purpose only; to expose the Patterson-Gimlin film as a hoax.

From reading his "expose" it appears that he has not done much research. The core of his report stems from a paragraph taken from page 32 of 'Big Footprints' by Grover S. Krantz, 1992.

'The shape of a footprint can be dug into the ground with the fingers and/or a hand tool, the interior pressed flat, and it can then be photographed or cast in plaster. My first footprint cast was made by a student in just this manner (Fig.10). Roger Patterson told me he did this once in order to get a movie of himself pouring a plaster cast for the documentary he was making. (A few days later, he filmed the actual Sasquatch; See Chapter 4).'

Did Grover Krantz believe that Patterson documented a hoax?

Ben Rivers has no other posts. His blog can be accessed by clicking here.

Dr. Melba Ketchum's Public Reply

From Dr. Melba Ketchum:
Ok, for the sake of time ( and I hope all of you understand), I will answer everyone publicly here. I keep getting a lot of emails from everyone wanting to know the status of the project. Though I cannot give details or timing, I will assure everyone that all is well and we are continuing to move forward. Good science cannot be forced or quickly completed. If it is not extremely thorough, then it will all be for naught and any paper rejected outright. So, I ask you to be patient and understanding and realize that extreme scientific overkill is required in order to convince a world full of skeptical scientists. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof". This is what we are doing. When we started this, I thought we would be finished in a few weeks, but instead as Sasquatch are known to do, they threw us curve balls even with their DNA which can be as elusive as they are. Thank goodness we are past that! As a result, we have assembled a renowned team, each of us with our own specialties to make this project "extraordinary". If everyone will hang in there, I promise it will be worth the wait. We have the proof, now just give us the opportunity to present it in a form that will even convince skeptics. Thanks so much for all of your emails and support. Best wishes to all.

I'd like to hear others' opinions on this whole ordeal. There are definitely people on both sides of the fence regarding Dr. Melba Ketchum.
Do you believe that she is a legitimate DNA expert on the verge of a colossal breakthrough?
or
Do you believe she is a washed up, bankrupt veterinarian looking to make some $$ and 15 minutes of fame?
or
Something in between?

An Anonymous Comment for you to Ponder

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "The Bruce Barraclough Eyewitness Account":

I can’t help but feel a bit frustrated by the reporters reactions in this encounter. Yeah…I know; how would I react etc. etc., BUT if we’re going to conduct meaningful field research we have to abide by a couple of imperatives. While these are opinions belonging to me and my associates, I hope that readers will trust that they are based on good information and valid experience, (All I can say at this point). The first imperative is: NO guns, or if they are taken afield they must remain totally invisible at all times(before leaving the trailhead to after the conclusion of the outing and complete exit from the habitat.), and only drawn in a true life and death scenario. But: your chances of being assaulted by sasquatch are much, much less than being attacked by a black bear. Sasquatch understand guns intimately, they look for them and are very distrustful of anyone carrying them. All high tech devices create distrust. The inclusion of a detectable firearm may escalate an encounter into a very aggressive response depending on the individual creature’s family history regarding firearms. The other absolute must is that field researchers refrain from using any night vision (starlight) night vision devices that utilize an infrared LED light source), or camera devices (camera traps) utilizing the same.

Very important is the idea that we should adopt an attitude of reverence…even sacredness for the sasquatche’s immediate environment. The same as if you were visiting a dignitary holding high office somewhere—high respect.

Leave tasty food gifts at every opportunity. Playing melodic guitar music around a campfire is a good thing, if you’re in the right place you’ll have an unseen audience. Ladies; while afield realize you are probably being admired secretly, and by all means, sing softly while hiking. (never alone though)

Be unobtrusive;
This means no, non-sense signaling, (you don’t know what it may inadvertently communicate), with wood knocking or imitation calls or even call blasting. Should you believe as many do that sasquatch is fooled by this kind of crap…think again!
I watched a few minutes of FB last night; until I started getting angry and sickened by the ignorance portrayed by the actors involved—I switched over to Spongebob reruns (makes much more sense). If they only realized how ignorant and unscientific they appear, they would all be hiding under rocks instead of stupidly throwing them in the woods. They do the creature a great disservice: what decent scientist would have anything to do with investigating the phenomenon for fear of even being associated television specials such as FB. It takes an incredibly dedicated scientist (a true scientist) to publicly acknowledge the probable existence of sasquatch.
If sasquatches have a sense of humor (and I’m pretty certain they do) they have to be laughing their big butts off! The common mistake all these yahoos make is assuming they are smarter than the creature. They consistently and severely underestimate their quarry. The sasquatch has a particular, innate, and as well, finely developed intelligence with which it perceives its environment. Again they understand our technology in an organic context and they are not fooled by camera traps (excepting a rare case involving inexperienced juveniles), fake, poorly imitated calls, whoops, or samurai chatter, woodknocking, and rock throwing, pheromone lures etc. etc. Any resident creatures within a particular territory know immediately when humans (and especially buffoons) enter. Actions by amateur field researchers have had the net effect of increasing the species knowledge and confidence of human behavior, which has possibly led to increased casual sightings. (Maybe a good thing)

Yeah…there’s a squatch in them woods—but you’ll never see him.

Rest in Peace Shane McMahon

One of our friends, a fellow researcher, Shane McMahon passed away last night after battling a very aggressive cancer.
His brother relayed this message this morning: "My brother, Shane, just passed away in the last hour. Sorry to say he just turned 40 years old. He had cancer in a large amount of areas. He is now with God in Heaven. Say hi to your brothers, sisters, friends, moms and dads because you never know how long you have to say just hi. He finally has peace after months of dealing with something that would even make a king humble. Thanks to all of you for your support and love for my Big brother Shane."
Peace be with you Shane

Tracking Bigfoot-Available on Kindle

Lori Simmons was devastated upon the death of her father, Donald Wallace. As a tribute to him, she continued to work on the book that Donald was in the process of writing about his experiences searching for the elusive creature we call Bigfoot.
"After the passing of our father’s death we needed to fulfill a promise to him. That promise was to share my dad’s knowledge of tracking Bigfoot. It was our father’s dying wish to publish his book called Tracking Bigfoot. Our father Donald Lee Wallace was man who lived in the North Cascade Mt. for the past 30 years. He tracked Bigfoot for the past 28 years. He lived off the land and appreciated each day God gave him. My father battled cancer for many years. I believe that due to the years of living in the Mt. and a trapper before that made him an expert when it came to reading the woods. I remember walking down the trail with our dad to go fishing and he would point out different tracks by the animals that live in the woods. My dad fishing would be putting on his waiter boots and stand out in the roaring river. The beauty that surrounded us. The sense of relaxation. I knew why he was a Mt. Man. He didn’t have to deal with the city stress instead he could enjoy the relaxation of the mountains."-Lori Simmons

The Kindle version of the book, Tracking Bigfoot,is available today. The hard copy of the book should be available within the next week.

For every book sold, $1 will go towards cancer research.

The Bruce Barraclough Eyewitness Account

Who is this Bruce Barraclough?
I had never heard of him until a couple of weeks ago when I was invited to listen to his radio show. Another radio show? Several people told me that his show was actually pretty good and I should give it a listen. I then received a message from Bruce and we introduced ourselves and soon I was on the phone with him writing up an article on his incredible encounter he experienced on his recent Squatching expedition. Enjoy!

Bruce Barraclough- North Eastern Anomalous Research

Georgia Incident-October 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th, 2011

Location: Northern part of Georgia, in the Chattahoochee National Forest

Bruce and his group consisting of 4 members were invited to research with Jan Allen and his group, the GBRI (Georgia Bigfoot Research and Investigation.) They arrived at the location on Friday afternoon about 4:30 and began unloading their gear from the vehicle when a member of the other team yelled out, “Up the road one just ran across the road!” The sighting occurred approximately 100-150 yards from base camp. Is this possible? Could they actually have activity already? Bruce could tell this was going to be a very interesting weekend.

They continued to set up camp. It was a quiet evening with the group sitting around the campfire getting to know each other and sharing stories of their personal squatching adventures. At 2:30 am Bruce was assigned the first night watch. He heard some rustling and movement in the woods, but nothing unusual for nighttime activity. At 5 am he woke up another team member to take over the watch. He decided to stay up and chat then they hiked about 50 yards up the road and made some wild animal calls . Nothing happened. They walked about 10 feet up the trail when a rock came sailing at them from behind! They did more calls and nothing else happened.

They returned to camp and the other group members awoke and the new day had begun. The girl who spotted the bigfoot crossing the road the previous afternoon took them to the point where she saw it cross and they found prints. Bruce walked further into the woods and found a tree broken in half, the tree was placed upside down on another tree, he looked around and discovered 3 more of the same exact tree formations forming a triangular area. There was also a bent and twisted fir tree.

They took pics headed back to camp ate lunch then split into 2 teams. Two members stayed at base camp and the other 2 groups split up. Bruce’s team headed towards the area with the tree formations, the other group stayed on the trail. About a mile down the road the other team did tree knocks. Silence. Bruce did tree knocks, again, silence. They did a rock knock then and they got a loud response. On the hike they noticed what appeared to be mountain lion tracks. Bruce being sick with the flu realized he couldn’t descend the hill any further. He stayed behind with a 45 mm weapon as the others continued down the trail. They realized there was heavy movement in the canyon below. Bruce continued on back to base camp. He then heard something heavy being thrown. He then experienced violent tree shaking. He quickened his pace. He felt and heard footsteps assuming he was being followed.

Not being embarrassed he then began talking to his guest. He offered a drink from his canteen to the unknown stalker and left his canteen on the middle of the trail.

He radioed the other group and asked them to retrieve his canteen when they returned. A while later they radioed him and asked him if he had left a turtle shell on top of the canteen!

He joined them to see for himself and discovered the canteen had a turtle shell on top of the emptied canteen!

He believes that the forest visitor left him a gift.

They returned to base camp to discuss the event. Of course adrenaline is running high. A half hour into their discussion Bruce decided to set up trail cams.

He baited the area with every snack item he had in his possession. And nothing touched the items.

Another member had watch that evening and experienced constant movement and the next morning they found various sizes of tracks and they cast them.

He claims that at early dawn, in the blue of the light, he saw a large dark creature run past camp.

Looking for a food source for the creatures, Bruce took his team down the trail they only saw a few deer and a couple of berry bushes. They saw abandoned mines on the map but didn’t find them.

He has no idea what they are eating.

A 19 ½ inch track was photographed, but it was older and had some water damage.

Around 3 pm another person claims to have seen another one run across the trail! They took off in pursuit of the creature but were soon consumed by the heavy foliage. They were then in a vulnerable position so they returned to camp.

Around dusk they set out glow sticks. (cam lights) 4 on every other tree. They split up in 2 groups about 200 yards from each other. No one was left at Base Camp Lots of movement on parabolic. His camcorder battery dies. Instead of going back to base camp with everybody he headed back to camp with his Gen 3 night vision scope and his 45mm. He walked up the trail alone about 100 yards and could see the base camp he saw the campfire then off to the left he saw 2 sets of eye shine. He began making noise to scare off the creatures in case it was bear or deer, but then as he glanced back towards the camp, he saw the huge creature step in front of a tree and stop and stand there and stare at him, motionless. He could see clearly through the Gen 3. He reached for his weapon but couldn’t release it from the holster. He grabbed the radio and called for the group to return to the camp.

From the Gen 3 he assumed the creature was dark brown to black in color. It appeared to be 8 feet using a 6’5” team member as a guide.
The creature puffed up his chest and put out his arms (like a body builder) and turned and stomped into the woods.

It ducked behind a tree on the right hand side, then ducked down behind another tree on the left hand side. Then was gone.

Bruce collapsed from the emotions and needed to use his asthma inhaler. His emotions ran from fear, to exhilaration. Emotions too overwhelming to process.

Then during the night watch they noticed one of the glow sticks begin to move…he decided to wait till others were awake, to go check out the glow stick.

About a half hour before waking the next crew for watch, he heard branches breaking, heavy movement. He got the weapon out and called out into the woods warning that he had the gun out in case someone was messing with him.
He woke up the others and went to check the glow stick. They found out that the glow stick was removed and tied to a lower branch.

He was going into the tent when he caught sight of something. A formation of branches was placed next to his tent! This had to have been the breaking and rustling he heard while he was on his watch. Now it was personal!
To be continued and hopefully photos will be added...

"American Bigfoot scientists and researchers felt hoodwinked by Russian Yeti event"

Source-Doubtful Newsblog

Dr. Jeff Meldrum, professor of anatomy and anthropologist at Idaho State University, has spoken out about his recent excursion to Siberia to examine the existence of the Russian Yeti. Dr. Meldrum was a featured speaker at the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Conference in Youngwood, PA on Sunday, October 23. His conclusion: the yeti evidence was poor and he and other researchers were brought to Russia to add credibility to the local claim that yetis live in the area.

His presentation, entitled “The Russian Connection”, was not the listed topic on the schedule. He noted that he changed his topic upon advice from the conference organizers after the media storm that ensued regarding the announcement that “scientists were 95% convinced” that the Russian Yeti exists. Along with American scientist John Bindernagle, and researcher Ron Morehead, Meldrum was part of the team invited to Kemerovo region of Siberia to discuss the formation of a scientific commission to study the yeti. Led to believe there was significant scientific interest by the academic institutions in the area, Meldrum expressed his dismay when the press coverage was greater than the public and academic interactions.

In his talk, Meldrum described the players involved in the conference that began in Moscow and ended in Kemerovo. Specifically, he named Igor Burtsev, director of the International Centre of Hominology in Tashtagol, Kemerovo region. Burtsev already holds the belief that yetis exist in the area and are a Neanderthal relic population.

Meldrum showed photographs and described how the local Russian contingent greeted and treated the invitees with much pomp and ceremony but little scientific protocol.

As in scientific conferences, the attendees were taken on a field trip to a cave in the municipality of Tashtagol. Meldrum said he began to get concerned about the event when twisted and broken trees were rather conveniently located near the sites they visited. Reservations about what he had gotten himself into grew when he noticed saw cuts in the trees. The guides pointed to every bent and broken tree as marks of the yeti. From what Meldrum observed, the cave was not remote but apparently visited rather frequently with the trail maintained by the local municipality. The group was told the cave was a probable yeti habitation. Inside the cave, Meldrum notes that “right on cue”, isolated footprints and a “nest” were pointed out by their hosts.

Meldrum’s impression was that the “evidence” looked more like a staged event. Only right foot impressions were found, not a trackway as would be expected. His remark about the creature “playing hopscotch?” made it into the local press reports. The print had uncharacteristic pressure ridges that Meldrum described as consistent with that made from a rigid wooden imprint.

When a comment was made that the “nest” hardly looked used, Burtsev jumped into it himself for a photo opportunity, oblivious of any potential evidence that might have been there. A hair sample was collected in the cave but not from the nest.

Thank you Sharon Hill for that wonderful report!

New Report-Salt Fork State Park

This report comes to me from a very credible employee from Salt Fork State Park.

The incident occurred this past week and was relayed to the employee.

"A muzzleloader hunter was out hunting near the group camp. It was really early, rainy and very foggy. He decided to go back to camp to wait out the weather. He said as he was walking back, he saw something standing slightly uphill, behind a tree and peeking out around it at him. He said he leaned one way to see what it was, and it would duck behind the tree and peek out on the other side of the tree. It was tall and hairy, he said he thought it was a guy in a ghillie suit at first, but it wasn't. He said it ducked around a few more times and then ducked completely behind the tree. He said he walked towards the tree and it was gone and he never saw it walk away or anything. He probably would of gone into more detail, but the guys around him were giving him some grief, so he kinda clammed up. So, I don't know. Those guys have come for muzzleloader season every year for at least the past 15 years and haven't ever seen or said they've seen anything- I believe he probably did see something."

Wild Animals-Suicide???? Zaney Zainesville!

The town of Zanesville, Ohio, was on lock down on Wednesday morning, with schools closed and drivers told to stay in their cars as police tracked dozens of wild animals who escaped from a nearby preserve.

The Columbus Dispatch reported that the man who ran the preserve — which included lions, tigers and bears, among other dangerous animals — had been found dead. It was unclear what killed the man, who was identified as Terry Thompson.

Flashing lights on the roads warned early morning commuters of the loose animals.

Speaking on CNN on Wednesday morning, Jack Hanna, former director of the Columbus Zoo, advised residents to remain calm if they see one of the animals. “Do not run,” he said.

Deputies in Ohio’s Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office found themselves in unfamiliar territory Tuesday night: They were perched in the back of pickup trucks hunting for big game — lions, tigers, bears and even cheetahs — in the middle of Ohio.

Some four dozen animals escaped on Tuesday from an exotic animal farm in Zanesville, Ohio, and were loose in the area, according to the sheriff’s office. Law enforcement officials arrived at the farm, identified by The Associated Press as the Muskingum County Animal Farm, to find the owner, Terry Thompson, dead and the animal cages open.

“I would recommend staying in doors right now,” said Sheriff Matthew J. Lutz.

No attacks or injuries had been reported as of Tuesday evening, Mr. Lutz said, but several local schools announced they would be closed on Wednesday, at the sheriff’s recommendation.

In a news conference Tuesday evening, Mr. Lutz said that his deputies had shot and killed about 25 of the animals, including lions and wolves. That left about 20 more very large animals roaming the area.

“I’m going to say the word ‘mature,’ ” Mr. Lutz said. “Very big. Aggressive.”

He continued: “We’ve got a little bit of a list compiled. Mainly there were grizzly bears and black bears there. There were cheetahs, there were lions and there were tigers. Those are the primary things that we would be concerned with.”

Mr. Lutz said that while he was not certain the farm’s owner, Mr. Thompson, was current on his permits, he had been in the past. But that seemed to offer little comfort to the sheriff.

“Let’s just say, it’s a little loose,” Mr. Lutz said of the permit process, “in my opinion.”

Boggy Creek: The Legend is True-STREAMING LIVE THURSDAY

Cryptomundo will be releasing the link to the streaming video later today.

“Boggy Creek: The Legend is True” from Studio 3 Entertainment and director Brian T. Jaynes. The 2010 production was inspired by the urban legend of a monstrous “bigfoot” type primate living in and around “Boggy Creek,” which was also the basis for the Charles B. Pierce 1972 docu-drama film, “The Legend of Boggy Creek.” The original film, shot in and around the swamps bordering Arkansas and Texas, has reportedly sold over 1.5 million video copies and generated more than $20 million in net revenues. Hannover House is the entertainment division of Target Development Group, Inc.

The Hannover House advertising and publicity campaigns will target science-fiction, fantasy and horror genre fans through specialty publications, internet outreach and social media. DVDs will be priced at $14.95 suggested retail, and Blu-Ray units will be priced at $19.95 suggested retail. Based on the evergreen interest in cryptozoological monsters such as the “Boggy Creek” creature, Hannover House predicts that the video will be well received by both retailers and video consumers.

SYNOPSIS: When Jennifer’s father dies in a horrific accident, she finds herself drawn to his small cabin in Boggy Creek, Texas. She brings a few friends along for a week’s stay, but their vacation soon turns deadly. They are warned of an evil creature that has lurked near the waters for three decades, a terrifying monster that murders men and abducts women. While camping, Jennifer and her friends encounter the creature, finding themselves on the feeding grounds of the giant beast. What began as a journey of self discovery becomes a desperate fight for survival along Boggy Creek as they soon lean that the legend is true!

The film features an attractive cast of emerging young stars, including Melissa Carnell (“Savage County”), Stefanie Honore (“Final Destination”), Shavon Kirksey (“Coach Carter”) and Texas Battle (“Dragonball Evolution”). The film was produced by Christian Remde and written by Jennifer Minar and director Brian T. Jaynes. Next up on the production slate for Jaynes is the horror-thriller, “Humans vs. Zombies.”

While focusing primarily on theatrical releases in 2011, Hannover House is also committed to a large slate of DVD and Blu-Ray titles, such as “Boggy Creek: The Legend Is True.” Next on the schedule for Hannover House is “Turtle: The Incredible Journey” to hit theatres beginning June 24, under a releasing venture with SeaWorld Pictures.

“Boggy Creek: The Legend Is True” is a sci-fi thriller, 84 minutes running time, and will be release in color and in stereo. The film is not yet rated. DVD UPC is 7-61450-25533-3; Blu-Ray UPC is 7-61450-05533-9.

2011 PA UFO and Bigfoot Conference

Join me this weekend!

Public Service Announcement

Last night on the Squatch Detective radio show, Steve Kulls' guest was retired forest ranger Charles Branson of Honobia, Oklahoma.

Charles claims to have had interactions with bigfoots on his property for many, many years. The activity was such on his land that several organizations became interested in researching the area.

The individuals were always honest and upfront with Charles and for the past 10 years he has allowed them to place trail cams on what is discreetly known as "Area X".

Members of the organization are required to pay dues and to commit "service hours" for the organization. One of the chores required of certain members is to go to "Area X" and replace the cards and batteries on the trail cameras.

Charles had no problem with the researchers using his property until this past July 4th, when the organization's mission turned into more than just research.

One of the researchers caught sight of a bigfoot creature and took off in pursuit firing his AK 47 assault rifle with the intent to kill.

This organization and others, is often turning to the public pleading for donations to further their "research". If the organization has changed its original mission statement and have changed their stance from a "no-kill" to a "pro-kill" operation, then their donors should be made aware of this new practice.

The following has been transcribed from the Squatch Detective radio show last night:

At the 12:57 minute mark:

Steve: Have you ever gotten anybody that's ever come forward with a video to you, that, that you feel was a legitimate video?

Charles: Oh, we had some, uh.. We were letting some BRFO researchers from Oklahoma and Texas use our cabin facilities for the past ten years and they kept game cameras out all the time.

At the 15:15 minute mark:

Charles: We had a 4th of July incident in this area that I'm telling you about. It's OK to expand on it?

Steve: Sure...

Charles: ... researcher was actually shooting at one, trying to kill it with an AK-47. (unintelligible)

So we stopped them from using our facilities because, we know those folks are there, we don't want them bothered. They're non-violent, and we've watched them, ya know, for years, their habits and everything.

And uh, he was actually trying to kill one. And was honest enough to admit it. Which I admire, because there's not one in ten million that would admit that.

At the 27:10 mark:

Charles: ...they change seasonal their fur, just like other wildlife does.

And like this one, the 4th of July incident, uh, this fella said this one was about six and a half, seven foot tall.

He had light brown hair on his shoulders and up around his neck, real light brown and the rest of him was dark.

At the 52:43 minute mark.

Steve: Charles, you have such an appreciation for these things. Um, um, you...

Charles: They're wonderful people.

Steve: And uh, it seems like you've had more than one run in with these guys. It seems like you've almost had a nice relationship with them.

Charles: Yes, and they know it.

Steve: Now do they recognize people after a time, spell of time?

Charles: I think so. Spiritually I think they do. They're super smart. And uh, they, they can just feel...

And also, for your information, I've had... If you ever attack one, you better be careful, because they don't forget it.

Steve: Ha ha, ha... I guess not. Now have you ever known anyone to have ever attacked one or...?

Charles: Well I just told you about the 4th of July this year tried to kill one with an AK-47.

But when we go to the cabins, this hunting season, we're gonna have to be extra careful and communicate with them fellas. Ya know, let 'em know that wasn't us pulling that trigger.

We live... They're wonderful. I just wish everybody could learn to appreciate 'em more. And uh, I respect any person's right to not believe. But I also expect the same respect on my beliefs, ya know.

Steve: Now Charles, Charl...

Charles: If everybody could work together and stop the ridicule, just learn from each other then we could really move on with this thing.

And then at the 56:12 minute mark

Steve: Now the person trying to cap one with the AK-47, was that, that wasn't at your property was it?

Charles: Yes it was.

Steve: Ok, so now...

Charles: For ten years. we have give them permission to use the cabins because every so many months they go change their cameras out, see... And they was studying their habits, researching'. Uh, in fact, I've been there with them when they've played their recordings and get callbacks from 'em. I mean, it's the real deal.

But, we don't want them bothered, ya know. Well, that's it.

Steve: (unintelligible) but no guns...

At the 57:57 minute mark

Steve: Now, I have another question, and this goes back to the AK-47 incident, and that struck a political cord with some folks, and I'm gonna go ahead and honor the question.

Was there a particular group that was associated with this AK-47 incident?

Charles: Well, uh, it's BRFO, but I will not mention no names.

Steve: OK.

Charles: Because, the person has been extremely honest. And admitted it...

Steve: It wasn't the Texas group, or was it the Texas group?

Charles: Well Oklahoma and Texas both work together.

Steve: Gotcha. Gotcha. Well, that answers that question I suppose.

Steve: You sure it was the BFRO and not the, uh, next question, used to be the, gotcha Craig...

Charles: Well that's what they claim, but it could not be, ya know there's several splinter groups that says BRFO. I don't know whether it's official or not.

Steve: Is it possible that it could have been a group called the TRBC? Is it possible that you mixed those two up.

Charles: I'm not for sure (unintelligible) BRF...

You can listen to the archived show here: Squatch Detective Radio Show-Guest Charles Branson

For the record, the BFRO is not to be implicated in this story in any way. Mr. Branson was not sure of all of the letters in the acronym.

Letters From the Big Man

This year at the Ashland Independent Film Festival, Letters from the Big Man, which was written and directed by Christopher Munch won the Gerald Hirschfeld A.S.C. Cinematography Award.

The story revolves around "Sarah Smith, an artist and government hydrologist, who sets out on a post-fire stream survey in a remote part of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness of southwestern Oregon. In the course of her journey through this ancient and ecologically diverse land, she unwittingly finds herself interacting with a sasquatch man, and a mutual curiosity ensues. As their friendship deepens, Sarah must take bold steps to protect his privacy, as well as her own."

I am awaiting my review copy but from the trailer, this movie appears to be one that FINALLY depicts the sasquatch as the gentle, intelligent creature we believe him to be.

Kate Bush Cries Out to Warn the Yeti

Kate Bush has released her new single, which is about the existence of the Yeti, on the very same day that the government of the Russian coal mining region of Kemerovo has announced the discovery of "indisputable proof" of the existence of the Yeti. It's also interesting that the talk-singing verses of Bush's song, "Wild Man," rhythmically echo those in the Pixies' "Tame." Although Bush seems to think that we humans will not bother trying to tame our giant, wooly, bipedal cousins once we catch one of them. "They want to know you," she sings, warning the Yeti to run. "They will hunt you down/Then they will kill you."

Pay No Attention to That Man Behind the Iron Curtain

This past week Russian Yeti researchers are claiming to have discovered ‘indisputable proof’ of the fabled beast after grey hair was found in a remote Russian cave.”
(On a side note, Ron Morehead, John Bindernagle and Dr. Jeff Meldrum were in Russia for this conference and may have visited the cave leaving behind a few of their silver locks! If only Loren and Craig Woolheater were there!)
Loren Coleman urges the research community that to see the phrase “indisputable proof” spread like wildfire has been unfortunate, for there is no zoological or anthropological proof of anything. It appears the conference organizers or the cryptotourism officials of Kemerovo or both were so interested in putting a good spin on the results of their “expedition” that they have overblown the results.
